2013 Oscar Nominees for Short Film - Animated

This animation (Paperman) is getting a lot of attention on my Facebook newsfeed. Even though I already knew what the ending would be, I couldn't help but smile and keep watching it until the end. Then I noticed this was an Oscar nominee for best animated short film, which led to me watching the rest of the nominees, either trailer of full short (or whatever was available). I have no idea how the academy picks their nominees. But here are the nominees for best animated short film:

Having fun isn't hard, when you have a library card!

This song has been in my head since middle school and I am glad my hippocampus works the way it works. It's also another reason why I loved working at the UCLA Library (for three years!) When I see kids doing drugs or just not such fun things, I break out in song along with the appropriate dance moves. Enjoy!

Welcome Back to LA, Goodbye Car

I look at things unfolding before me, and I think in scenes. The media has brainwashed me since I was... 5, and ever since then, I think life is all a show. And truthfully, I choose comedies over tragedies. Both should exist, but I prefer my ending to be comedic, not tragic.

But it's not JUST ANOTHER CAT VIDEO! But it is. I tried thinking of something clever to say, but really, it's just a video (watch in HD!) of two cats working together to seek food. I don't proclaim them to be cute or smart or the best cats in the world. Which leads me to another thing - we were all cute once in our lives. Every dang baby or toddler is cute. Then all of a sudden, they grow up, and they're no longer cute. Isn't that wrong? Why can't we all be like babies and cats and just be cute forever?

Sunday Night Flash Mob

Sunday night and I felt inspired to finally pick up my camera. It's been in my camera bag since I got back from New York City. I had so much to say here, but it begins to not make any sense when I start to type. These images were taken today, it's me messing around with my external flash. I had a lot of fun, but blinded them all. My mom, brother, and both cats had no choice. Either way, it feels so good to just shoot (the images weren't heavily photoshopped at all, no added vignettes, just some cropping and contrast!).
